Overview
The Parallel Scientific Computing Laboratory is part of the Division of Theoretical Computer Science in the Department of Informatics and Telecommunications at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (Greece).
The PSCL research fields mainly focus at the development of parallel software for problems of Computational Fluid Dynamics. In particular, direct and iterative methods are being designed for the numerical solution of Shallow Water, Navier-Stokes and Euler equations on distributed memory processors. In combination with the quest of parallel computational schemes, domain decomposition methods and load balancing algorithms are also under study.
Another field of interest that is also investigated at PSCL is the implementation of an automated software system to perform the sequential to parallel conversion of existing algorithms for the numerical solution of Partial Differential Equations.
The main objective of PSCL is the development of parallel scientific software for the simulation of complex physical phenomena in order to study their behaviour and also to introduce and familiarize the students with parallel processing.
